So....in keeping with today's news:

Do you think parents who do not seek medical treatment for ill children should be criminally prosecuted when those children die? Should those parents be prosecuted if seeking such medical treatment violates their religious beliefs?

To the fullest extent of the law.

What if it is a question of finances/no health insurance???
For religous reasons - the parents should be sent to jail!!
When this government does not allow low income families to qualify for any kind of health benefits then blame the government!!

Well, that's a different question than the one you posed.I believe we are the only industrialised nation on earth that does not have universal health coverage.Even though we spend more on the health industry per capita. So where does the money go? Obscene profit margins is where the billions go.Insurance companies, phamaceutical companies, private hospitals. Nothing left for poor sick little Johnny.Try and change it and you are a commy.

MrM -

You come from a country with an NHS. We come from a country where you pay for your services, and there is no entitlement you are due to recieve (as a right of citizenship, which is how I perceive in my probable ignorace the NHS). I don't particularly want to pay for anyone else's insurance, or anyone else's kids insurance. What are you doing having kids if you can't pay for them?

It isn't just the NHS. It's every country except us;was my point.. Doesn't that give you pause for thought? You ever think maybe the rest of the world might be right just once? I myself would rather pay for someone else's kid to get well than to pour my money into the pockets of the health insurance corporations (every month) who are destroying this private system with their greed. You should look up the figures over the past eight years.

And another thing whilst I am on a roll. I am sick of this notion that poor people shouldn't have kids.

And you must like Bob Dylan too, but you didn't mention him...

We are the wealthiest nation on earth, and we should take care of our own. Just like a little village, if one is sick and can't work the others feed him. You don't just watch him die.

What about crazed religious people that don't care for their children? I think if people aren't taking care of their kids the kids should be taken away by the other villagers, and cared for, hopefully before they die. I know the news story you refer to. It's sort of sad but I'm an athiest and I don't spend alot of time thinking about weird God stories and fretting over old religious text, I have better things to read, before the children get sick and die.

I love your blog, especially the things to do in ATL. Who would have thought there was art and culture in Atlanta? And a person that appreciates it...
